VOTER INTIMIDATION IN PENNSYLVANIA
In 2009, a case was brought to the Department of Justice regarding voting rights in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Minister King Samir Shabazz and Jerry Jackson, were charged with voter intimidation as a result of their behavior outside of a polling station in Philadelphia. Jackson was a certified poll watcher.
The case was ultimately dismissed. However, this caused a wave of conservative backlash, as individuals argued that the U.S. Department of Justice had failed to protect the voting rights of white citizens. Many claimed that this was indicative of what was to occur under the Obama administration, citing that he personally did not see the NBPP as a threat because he, too, believed in black supremacy. |
